The incident took place around 11:44 p.m., Tuesday, Sept.. 28 on I-95 southbound near its intersection with the Mass Pike in Weston in Middlesex County.
According to Dave Procopio, of the state police, the trooper was inside his cruiser when it was struck.
"The trooper sustained serious injuries, but was alert and radioed in the crash himself," Procopio said. "He is being transported to a Boston hospital."
Following the crash, the tractor-trailer jack-knifed on the highway. I-95 was shut down completely for a while to allow for an investigation.
The truck was towed to a service plaza on I-95 in Newton.
The crash is under investigation, it is unclear if the driver of the truck will face any charges.
